If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature at your own pace, then, you might as well add Guisi to your bucket list. It's a small sitio located at the farthest point of Dolores, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. Travel time from Jordan wharf is approximately 45 minutes. What does Guisi have to offer, you say? Well, for one, it is home to the second oldest lighthouse in the Philippines. I don't know what the hype is all about but the lighthouse seems to draw couples to have their prenuptial photoshoot taken there. Perhaps it's the antiquity that is all over the place.
Guisi is also blessed with a white sand beach and diverse marine wildlife. Strategically located near both the lighthouse and the beach is La Pachira resort, a family-managed resort. The staff there are so friendly. Also, worth mentioning, food at their pavillion, Ambrosia Hall, is both a gastronomic treat and an eye candy you can't afford to miss. Food is garnished and plated with indigenous materials without compromising both flavor and sophistication. One would never think such warm welcome and quality service from a newly established resort could be receive.
There's just so many things you can do to be intimate with nature while you're at Guisi. You can go island hopping, boat rowing, snorkeling, trekking, cliff diving, rock climbing, swimming, and of course, just laying in the sand, enjoying the radiating rays of the sun while drinking a cold bottle of beer. If that is not paradise, then tell me what is.
